Most boat manufacturers are always trying to thread the needle: they know a lot of customers are avid fishermen, but they always want to include as many creature comforts as possible, in case the owner wants to use his boat for family outings, picnics and other kinds of pleasure cruising.
Well, NorthCoast said to heck with that when it comes to their 230 CC model. This is a boat designed from the hull up to be a lean, mean fishing machine. It’s not that there are no creature comforts aboard this beauty or that you can’t take the family out for a spin on it … it’s just a boat made for fishing, plain and simple.
First, NorthCoast’s Deep V hull design with a 21 degree deadrise and high freeboard all around makes this a very dry and comfortable platform for fishing. Designed for both open seas and more protected bays and inlets, the 230 CC is quick and nimble in all conditions and can reach 40 mph with a Yamaha 250 outboard.
So, what does it have for fishing? Let’s start with the rod holders–there are no less than 21 of them. Every cup holder around the gunnels doubles as a rod holder. The hardtop T-Top console contains Rupp Top Gunn outriggers. There are four swivel butt holders, suitable for tuna and shark. There are rocket launchers on the leaning post, and more on the hardtop. If you want to take your rods out of any of those multitudes of holders, there is ample rod storage under the gunnels, tackle storage as well as space for all kinds of other gear in the bow. There are two live wells aboard, in-deck storage beneath your feet and oversized hardware everywhere to make access easy and quick.
