The Sea Fox 246 Commander was a popular, well-appointed member of the Sea Fox family. The new Sea Fox 248 Commander is billed as an upgrade on that model. We’re not sure the word “upgrade” does justice to what Sea Fox has put in this terrific new boat.

The NEW 248 Commander

The new 248 Commander has the same sweeping bow lines, with a deadrise of 18 degrees, providing a hull that can handle rough seas with ease. The dry ride of this boat is phenomenal thanks to its pronounced Carolina flare.

The boat is designed to run on a single four-stroke Yamaha, up to 300 hp. Many owners will find a 250 hp will more than do the job (with a top speed of 58 mph) and provide even better fuel economy.

The Details

At the stern, the 248 Commander offers a comfortable teak swim platform, pass-through seating cushion, fresh and raw water washdown systems, a 30-gallon pressurized and aerated livewell with an aquarium window and a separate dip-net storage unit. Beneath the stern cushion is another large fishbox for those successful fishing expeditions.

The center console was redesigned for better efficiency. The windshield is a bit larger, the electronic controls were organized low on the console, leaving plenty of space for your choice of electronic screens above.

Overhead, the T-top comes with four storage lockers and a sunroof, and mister pumps to cool down on super-hot days. Between the rear edge of the T-top and the space behind the console seats, Sea Fox has provided eleven–count ‘em– rod holders for your fishing gear. There are more rod holders along the railings and forward rod storage lockers as well.

The leaning post is low profile for more spaciousness, but the tilt steering wheel, fold-down cushions and the two-tier teak steps (one with LED lighting) are all designed for comfort and efficiency in operation. And the Kicker sound system with its multiple floor-mounted speakers will blast your favorite tunes!

The forward part of this boat is full of seating options, which can be arranged for front- or rear-facing rides. A removable table in the center can double as a casting platform, or, if the family is along, can be used to serve lunch. Recessed stainless steel handrails and cup holders also contribute to making this a family friendly boat.

Yes, Sea Fox put the “up” in upgrade when it launched the 248 Commander. If you’re looking for a combination fishing boat and family entertainer, come take a look at all the features they’ve designed into this one, versatile watercraft.
